Three fishing ponds are nestled in among the trees and are stocked by the State Department of Fish and Wildlife (fishing permits are required, you can get them in Alturas from Ace Hardware). Seasonal streams and a variety of springs also dot the hillside. Private wells and septic systems must be installed on each lot as community water and sewer systems are not available in this area.
