Born in London, England, Matthew Fletcher’s life-long love affair with Costa Mesa began at age eight when his father accepted a position with Rolls Royce in California and moved his young family to what Matt expected would surely look like like a cross between the wild west and the movie Grease. After graduating from Newport Harbor High School, then UC Berkeley, Matthew traveled extensively and honed his people skills in coffee shops before returning to London to work as a talent manager in the entertainment industry. He eventually settled back to California where he worked as a photo shoot producer and played in a band before recognizing his passion for real estate after buying and selling a few homes of his own.
Now with more than ten years’ of real estate experience, Matthew represents buyers and sellers all over Orange County, but specializes in Westside Costa Mesa and Orange County’s historic homes in general. After two years heading the awareness campaign for the Mills Act on Costa Mesa’s Historical Preservation Committee, Matthew continues this endeavor daily. “Preserving historically significant homes is something I’m passionate about. Exposing clients to a way to save on their property taxes is the icing on the cake!” As a history buff and self-confessed research nerd, Matthew loves highlighting a home’s unique architectural features as much as the home’s place in local history.
Matthew enjoys talking about how Costa Mesa has developed its own distinct personality in the shadow of its much wealthier neighbor, Newport Beach. As a huge proponent and supporter of Costa Mesa’s vibrant cultural scene, especially in the burgeoning Westside, Matthew loves highlighting the area’s lesser-known parks, restaurants, boutiques, and entertainment. Surrounded by a unique mix of residential and industrial zones, Westside Costa Mesa homes sit on the bluffs and come complete with ocean breezes and large lots. He finds it particularly gratifying when his clients end up sharing his love for all things Costa Mesa.
Matthew prides himself on his high level of customer service and his ability to build lasting relationships – something he learned early in the entertainment industry. While always diplomatic, he is a fierce negotiator and fights for his clients’ best interests. He takes great pride in matching his clients needs with off-market listings – something that comes from forging a strong network in the community and within the industry.
